Supporting business in Algeria
Puls Biznesu writes about General Programme of Promoting Polish Economy in Algeria carried out by AGERON. Algerian market is not easy, but after a year of realizing the programme there are already success stories of Polish companies in Algeria.
The Ministry of Economy for the second year will finance participation in the fairs in the country, which is a window to Africa.
The Ministry of Economy has PLN 15million to support entrepreneurs this and next year on the key markets, including Algeria, Turkey, Brazil, Canada, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates as well as sector of computer games. Businessmen can count on reimbursement of participation costs in the fairs, additionally there are campaigns promoting Polish economy and selected sectors are planned.
– We are preparing documentation for the programmes of general promotion on these markets in the next year. There is already a list of fairs events. We don’t have yet estimations as to costs. Last year we had PLN 1 5-2 million for each country for promotional activities, excluding support for entrepreneurs – says Agnieszka Bula-Kopanska from the Ministry of Economy.
It is already sure that you can go to Algeria for the fairs covering automotive, cosmetics, medical, construction sectors and fairs covering multiple sectors. The Ministry of Economy will finance participation of the entrepreneurs in the fairs and preparing promotional materials.
– Programme will be carried out in 2014, but the applications for financing should be submitted to the Ministry until October 31, 2013 the latest – says Agnieszka Bula-Kopanska.

– Algeria is a window to Africa and whole Middle East. The government got worried about situation in Egypt and decided to fill in empty shelves in the shops. The import of luxurious goods is increasing; this is a chance for Polish producers of cosmetics, clothes or food. The government is also carrying out big infrastructural investments – says Piotr Trzankowski.
This year 20 enterprises benefited from financing, covering up to 75% of the costs of participation in fairs and missions to Algeria.
– These are mainly medium and small companies, which had contact with Algerian market even before the Ministry of Economy thought about the programme. Among beneficiaries of the programme there were also companies which sell their products in Algeria: Mokate, Jutrzenka or Wedel. Fabryka Osi Napedowych SKB from Radomsko signed preliminary contract. Polish automotive parts have a good opinion, at the trade fairs Polish producers talked with Algerian recipients about direct export from Poland, eliminating foreign intermediaries. Instead of buying German or French concerns’ part produced in Poland, it is possible to buy these parts directly from producers – says Piotr Trzankowski.
